HBO Sports is “not happy” with ESPN’s coverage of boxing, a source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.
Sources have told ESPN that HBO has not spoken with HBO boxers about the boxers’ dissatisfaction.
HBO declined comment on the matter.
Boxing has been an ESPN staple since 2008.
Since then, HBO has produced more than 200 shows in total, including boxing specials and documentaries, boxing-themed podcasts and boxing-centric TV shows.
HBO has made a concerted effort to bring boxing to its streaming platform, including the HBO Now app, which debuted in March.
HBO will continue to produce shows that focus on boxing, the sources said.
The HBO Now boxers app launched in March, just in time for the Super Bowl.
It’s available to download on Apple and Android devices.
